Google maps and Google Earth are both useful tools for the Genealogist. They can be a little tiresome when you need to add a few thousand people though. Map My Ancestors is a utility for automatically converting a GEDCOM file for viewing with Google Earth or Google Maps (it produces KML files which can be directly read by both). Other mapping systems such as Bing maps will also support this format.
